Correspondence Course

Correspondence courses from WEST allow students to proceed at their own pace through as many units of study as they wish. You can start an WEST correspondence course at any time of the year.

Who is the correspondence course for?
Correspondence courses at WEST are available to all who are eager to learn more about the Bible and the Christian faith.

Which subjects are covered?
It is planned to have units available in Old and New Testament Introduction, Exegesis of selected Old and New Testament books, Christian Doctrine, Church History, Contemporary Theology.

A very popular unit is Christian Basics, which is an easy-to-follow introduction to, and summary of, major Bible doctrines. It is particularly useful for new Christians and those who want to inquire into the Christian faith.

More information
A student is allowed to follow a maximum of 3 units at a time but WEST recommend that only 1 or 2 units should normally be taken together.

Accompanying most study units are details of recommended books for background and further study. The amount and level of this further reading is left entirely to the discretion of each student.

How is it assessed?
Each lesson includes questions, which WEST ask students to answer briefly and return to the College for comments. Students are also free to ask their own questions concerning matters relating to the study that they do not understand. Students' answers/questions are returned by the college after being checked by an WEST lecturer.

Course awards
On completion of one or more units of study, a correspondence course student is issued with a certificate, although no marks or grades are given.

Correspondence course duration
There is no pressure on students to keep to a strict time table. Students may take as long or short a time as they like over each lesson.
