Courses

Here at WEST we have designed four courses of study to suit the various needs of our students. With the exception of the Correspondence Course each course is made up of a number of programmes that lead to specific qualifications. It is also possible for students to make up their own tailored course in discussion with staff.

Standard Term Dates


The Main Course
The Main Course is for the thorough preparation of men and women who sense a call to full-time Christian service or who desire to undertake an in-depth study of theology. It comprises the following two programmes:

The Binary Course
The Binary Course is designed for men who already possess a good honours degree in a non-theological subject and who can provide clear evidence of potential gifting for the role of pastor teacher or church planter. It involves 2 years, 2 bases (campus and contracted training church) and 2 programmes. The two programmes are:

The Binary Course is intended to impart the ability to think theologically, to encourage a commitment to lifelong learning, and to provide a kick-start into significant church leadership roles.

The Postgraduate Ministry Development Course
The Postgraduate Ministry Development Course is especially suitable for those in church and missions leadership and provides some flexibility to pursue subjects of special interest. Students normally study part-time and attend two or three intensive teaching weeks each year. These programmes are also available on a full-time basis. The three programmes are:

  • MA Theology (Contemporary Church Leadership)
  • MMin
  • DMin

The Correspondence Course
The Correspondence Courses allows students to proceed at their own pace through as many modules of study as they wish. You can start the WEST Correspondence Course at any time of the year. Completion of the Correspondence Course does not lead to a qualification.
