About WEST
History

The history of the School from 1936 to 1996 is contained in Dr Noel Gibbard’s book: “Taught to Serve: The History of Barry and Bryntirion Colleges” (1996) (Bryntirion Press). There was a connection with the 1904-05 Welsh Revival in that one of the leaders, Rev R B Jones of the Rhondda Valley established a Bible institute in Porth.
Local Information

This is a ‘Bible belt’ area in terms of the number of churches where a good expository biblical ministry is exercised. In the immediate area, there are 8-10 churches which WEST students attend and where they are welcomed and find plenty of good fellowship as well as opportunities to serve and gain experience.
Doctrinal Basis

We accept the Holy Scriptures, as originally given, as the inspired, infallible and inerrant word of God. Recognizing them as our sole authority in all matters of faith and practice, we believe the doctrines taught therein.
Ethos

'A desire to know the Bible and the Lord better.' That is our longing for all who study at WEST. Whether you train for the preaching/pastoral ministry, as many do, cross-cultural mission or home evangelism, knowing the Lord and His Word better are essential requirements alongside the academic teaching of Bible related subjects.
Why WEST?

From its formation in 1985, the Evangelical Theological College of Wales soon established a reputation for providing sound theological training for Christian ministry. Today, numerous former students of many nationalities are engaged in frontline gospel work around the world
